Conservation Reserve Program payments to non-farmers are not subject to self-employment tax, according to a federal appellate court, so any non-farmer who already paid it can file for a refund. This decision affects non-farmers in AR, IA, MN, ME, ND, and SD. Farmers in these states continue to owe self-employment tax on CRP payments.
