Getting Ready for HSAs for 2026

The dollar limits on contributions to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) for 2026: $4,400 for self-only coverage and $8,750 for family coverage. Those age 55 or older (but not yet on Medicare) can add another $1,000. To make a contribution, an individual must be covered by a high deductible health plan (HDHP). These are plans that have an annual insurance deductible ($1,700 for self-only coverage; $3,400 for family coverage) and a cap on out-of-pocket expenses ($3,400 for self-only coverage; $17,000 for family coverage).
