Today is a day to honor dads. The National Retail Federation says that spending for Father’s Day this year could hit a record $15.5 billion; it was $14.3 billion last year. The largest category of spending is on fun activities and experiences, like brunch or dinner (48%). The most common gift, purchased by 64% of consumers, is greeting cards. Where do consumers shop for this holiday: 40% in department stores, 34% online, 26% in discount stores, 24% at specialty stores, and 19% at local small businesses.
