Business Deduction for Self-employed Health Insurance?

A bi-partisan proposal called the Tax Fairness for the Self-Employed Act (H.R. 3880) would allow self-employed individuals to treat their health insurance premiums as a business expense rather than as a personal deduction. Such tax treatment would better equate the self-employed with corporations. This change would reduce their self-employment tax, which is based on net earnings from self-employment (business income minus business expenses).
